Springboard for Children is a registered charity which helps disadvantaged children acquire basic literacy skills. Their specialist teachers and trained volunteers offer one-to-one literacy teaching for inner city primary school children with learning difficulties. We asked for our grants to be used to increase the provision of such courses.

In a case study, one pupil was "about three years below her peers in reading", but since starting with Springboard "has made about 2 years progress in reading in a year" has "gained in confidence and is a happier and more communicative child".

The Foundation's grants paid for hundreds of Springboard's very effective one-to-one lessons.
